‘Handsy’ monkey goes wild on former Miss Peru Paula Manzanal in Bali

It’s not really a trip to Bali without a run-in with a monkey, but an incident with a Peruvian model proves how cheeky the local primates can be.

Footage of a monkey trying to pull down the strapless top of 28-year-old former Miss Peru Paula Manzanal has recently gone viral.

While posing with a monkey in the Indonesian island’s Ubud Monkey Forest, a cheeky long-tailed macaque is filmed trying to yank down Manzanal’s top.

As its attempt to expose the model’s breast fails – the monkey then resorts to violence, hissing and slapping Manzanal in the face before the video cuts out.

“I just didn’t want it to touch me,” she captioned the video on social media, translated from Spanish.

Manzanal’s 2.1 million TikTok followers shared concern for the model.

“Be thankful it didn’t bite you,” one follower exclaimed.

“It could hurt your eye, be very careful with the little animals; they get scared and react like that. I hope you are fine,” another wrote.

“I think his little fingernail got caught, and he must have thought that they wanted to tie him up, and he got scared,” wrote another.

Plenty of others saw the funny side is the interspecies dispute,

“I didn’t want to laugh but it did make me laugh; the good thing is that it didn’t bite you,” one follower wrote.

“He definitely knew, what he was doing,” another wrote.

“Thank you little monkey on behalf of all followers,” wrote another audacious follower.

Ubud Monkey Forest – also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal – is home to over 700 grey long-tailed macaques.

The park monkeys are generally considered friendly but are well-known to bite or scratch if provoked or allured by food – especially mother monkeys with babies.
